Welcome to the Latch user guide. Latch lets you add password-protected content to your Shopify store. Right now it’s built for product page descriptions—you can gate extended product copy, specs, or exclusive details behind a password. We plan to expand to other areas (e.g. pages, collections) in the future.

Quick idea of how it works

1. You create a lock in the Latch app (name, password, and the content to show when unlocked—e.g. your full product description or extra details).
2. You add the Latch Embed block to your product page (in the theme area where the product description is shown) and paste the Lock ID.
3. Visitors see a lock; anyone who enters the correct password sees your gated content. Unlocking lasts for their browser session.
