FAQ

Common questions about Latch and password-protected content.

Where can I use Latch?

Right now Latch is for product page descriptions only. You add the Latch Embed block on the product page (where the description appears) and gate that content behind a password. We have plans to expand to other areas of the store (e.g. other pages, collections) in the future.

How many locks can I create?

You can create as many locks as you need. Each lock has its own password and content. Use different locks for different products or different audiences.

Is the password case-sensitive?

Yes. Visitors must enter the password exactly as you set it, including capital and lowercase letters.

How long does “unlocked” last?

Once a visitor enters the correct password, the content stays unlocked for that browser session. If they close the browser or come back later, they’ll need to enter the password again.

Can I use HTML in lock content?

Yes. When you choose HTML content for a lock, you can enter any valid HTML (headings, paragraphs, links, images, etc.). You can use inline styles or rely on your theme’s CSS.

What is a Liquid snippet lock?

A Liquid snippet lock uses a snippet file from your theme (e.g. snippets/my-content.liquid). You reference the snippet in the lock; Latch serves that snippet’s output when the password is correct. This is useful if you prefer to edit content in your theme’s Liquid files.

The lock doesn’t appear on my storefront

  • Confirm the Latch Embed block is added on the product page (in the product template/section) and Saved.
  • Check that the Lock ID in the block matches the lock in the Latch app (copy it again from Password Locks if needed).
  • Make sure the Latch app is installed and the theme supports app blocks.

The password doesn’t work

  • Verify the password in the Latch app (Password Locks → your lock). It is case-sensitive.
  • Ensure the Lock ID in the theme block is the one for that lock.
  • Try in a normal browser window (not incognito) and without strict ad blockers that might alter requests.

Can I change the password or content later?

Yes. Edit the lock in the Latch app (Password Locks → select the lock). Changes apply as soon as you save. Visitors who are already unlocked in the same session will see updated content on refresh.

Who can I contact for help?
